Blas faoi Ghlas: Londain, Nua-Eabhrac, Béal Feirste.

Niamh Nic Oistigín chats to people based in London, New York and Belfast about the impact the coronavirus crisis has had on them.

Niamh Nic Oistigín i mbun comhrá le daoine éagsúla faoin dóigh a bhfuil géarchéim an choróinvíris ag dul i bhfeidhm orthu. Is dochtúir lonnaithe i Londain é Cillian Ó Coinn a raibh air dul i ngleic go gairmiúil agus go pearsanta leis an choróinvíreas. Mothaigh Méabh Nic Alastair, a bhfuil cónaí uirthi i Londain fosta, difear suntasach idir an cur chuige in Éirinn agus an cur chuige i Londain ag tús na géarchéime. Nuair a chaill Gerry Mac Niallais a uncail Tarlach leis an víreas, d’eagraigh sé faire ar Zoom. Agus i nGaoth Dobhair tá an tAthair Brian Ó Fearraigh, agus an comhphobal sa cheantar, ag teacht ar bhealaí úra le tacaíocht a léiriú do theaghlaigh faoi bhrón. Ar deireadh, insíonn Ciarán Mac Giolla Bhéin dúinn faoi Ar Scáth a Chéile, gréasán úr d’oibrithe deonacha atá ag obair go díograiseach i gceantar Uachtar Chluanaidh le bia, cógas agus siamsaíocht a sholáthair do mhuintir na háite.

Niamh Nic Oistigín chats to people about the impact the coronavirus crisis has had on them. Cillian Ó Coinn is a doctor based in London who has faced the coronavirus both professionally and personally. Méabh Nic Alastair lives in London too but she was on a visit home to the Glens when the crisis began to hit, and at the time, she was struck by the different approaches taken in Ireland and in London. Gerry Mac Niallais organised a Zoom wake after losing his beloved uncle Tarlach to the virus. Fr Brian Ó Fearraigh talks about the community finding new ways to support grieving families in his Gaoth Dobhair parish. And Ciarán Mac Giolla Bhéin tells us about Ar Scáth a Chéile, a volunteer network delivering food, medicine and entertainment to the people of Upper Springfield in west Belfast.
