Víkingur Ólafsson: Front Row’s Lockdown Artist in Residence

At the end of March, as the UK entered lockdown and all our music venues closed, Icelandic pianist Víkingur Ólafsson agreed to become our Artist in Residence, performing live each week on the grand piano at the empty Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik. Over eleven weeks Víkingur has treated us to a range of music, from Bach to Philip Glass, each week giving us his unique insight into the piece. This is part of the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½â€™s Culture in Quarantine initiative, celebrating creativity during lockdown. Thanks to the Harpa Concert Hall and the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service for making these broadcasts possible.
