Adam Hart talks to Dr Amy Dickman of Oxford University, who directs the Ruaha Carnivore Project in southern Tanzania (RCP). The Ruaha landscape is globally important for large carnivores, so RCP is examines the ecology and conservation of these populations, with a particular focus upon resolving human-carnivore conflict. She describes the brutal reality for communities living in a man-eating lion hotspot, and explains how identifying a pregnant man-eating lioness suggested a more nuanced response among that community than pure revenge.
