Derricka and June met in 2019 before they both became living kidney donors, they鈥檝e been firm friends ever since.

Derricka donated to her dad while June donated to her husband via an NHS 鈥檚haring scheme鈥�, meaning June鈥檚 kidney went to a stranger who had a relative whose kidney went to her husband.

Speaking to 5 Live鈥檚 Emma Barnett, Derricka said it was an unusual way to meet a friend, but it was 鈥渞eassuring鈥� to have a friend going through the same medical procedures.
