'When control is taken away… it can send things haywire'
Parents of autistic children have been sharing their experiences of lockdown with ѿý Radio 5 Live.
Kieran, who has two autistic children, told presenter Tony Livesey: "When that control is taken away, rather dramatically as lockdown did, it can send things haywire".
Dr Chris Papadopoulos who runs London Autism Group Charity said lockdown has caused "quite a lot of anxiety and distress" for his son Leo, 10, because he hasn't been able to "do the things he loves" and "see the people he needs to regulate”.
And Emma, mum of six-year-old Leo, said she has to "strike that balance between making him aware, but not freaking him out too much”.
