US election 2020: Is this set to be the most contested election?

US President Donald Trump and his reelection campaign have signalled they will pursue an aggressive legal strategy to try to prevent Pennsylvania — a key election battleground — from counting mailed ballots that are received in the three days after the election. Some in the state fear protests could ensue if voters believe their ballots haven’t been counted.

And as the president refused to commit to a peaceful transfer of power if he loses the election, is it democracy that is on the ballot this time round?

Newsnight’s Emily Maitlis reports from Pennsylvania — the cradle of American democracy, where the US’ founding fathers signed the declaration of independence and later the constitution.
