Jenson Button: 'Very proud' to have team in Extreme E

Ex Formula 1 world champion Jenson Benson tells 5 Live how he is preparing for Extreme E.

Former Formula 1 world champion Jenson Button has told ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 5 Live Drive he is "very excited" for Extreme E and how he is preparing for the new racing series.

The 41-year-old, who has launched his team JBXE, told Drive presenter Anna Foster that "he is very proud" to have his own team, but admitted it will be "a massive challenge" and "definitely different" to what he is used to.

"Racing off road is amazing," he said adding: "You've always got to keep your eye on the terrain because it's changing all the time, very different to a circuit."

Button admitted that the new racing series, which aims to highlight areas around the world affected by climate change, will however provide an extra layer of responsibility.

"I love racing, I love competing, I want to win. But the bigger picture is, the reason for Extreme E, is to bring awareness to the areas that we're racing.

The racing driver explained that scientists will be joining them to study and understand how to improve the local environment in each of the five different areas around they world, where they plan to race.
