Zara McDermott: 'Women are being held hostage by these images'
Former Love Island star Zara McDermott has twice been the victim of so-called ‘revenge porn’ - when an ex-partner shares your intimate images - once when she was just 14 years old. She spoke to Woman’s Hourabout her new documentary on the subject and why it's so vital the government acts to change the law.
“So many women are held hostage to these images,” Zara told Anita Rani, as she explained why the law needs to change to make that ‘threat to share’ a crime and protect women and girls in abusive relationships.
Zara also shared her message to anyone affected by the issue, and advice for any parents of teenagers who might be tackling a similar situation.
Zara’s documentary for ѿý Three is available to watch on the iPlayer from Tuesday 23 February.
