Money saving expert Martin Lewis gave his haggling tips to help you get a better deal.

"The start point to haggling is get yourself on a comparison website,鈥� he said. 鈥淵ou want a benchmark price, so you know what's available elsewhere.

"Letting the provider know you have done your research and know the best price can help."

Martin called haggling a "fiscal flirtation" and said that being likeable and polite will always get you further.

"This is not about anger, this is about charm and chutzpah and cheek and smiling,鈥� he said.

What if you threaten to leave a service provider and they call your bluff?

鈥淐all back in 24 hours and see if they offer you a better deal,鈥� said Martin. 鈥淚f you鈥檙e not offered anything better, you should actually consider leaving."
