The wall of hearts: 150,000 hearts for each life lost to Covid-19
Bereaved families of Covid-19 victims are painting a mural on London's South Bank to pay tribute to and mourn their loved ones who have died of the virus.
The mural will be made up of almost 150,000 hand painted hearts and currently stretches to half a kilometre.
Fran Hall, whose husband died after contracting coronavirus three weeks after they got married, told ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Newsnight that "as a country we need to see the people and not just hear the numbers."
"Every single one of these hearts represents one person, and one family that have been bereaved like I have."
The memorial has been co-ordinated by the campaign group Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice and was founded by Matt Fowler who lost his father, Ian, to coronavirus in April 2020.
Newsnight asked the government to respond to the bereaved families' calls for the National Covid Memorial Wall to be made permanent. They said the Prime Minister had already indicated he's committed to a permanent memorial to those we've lost.
