Josef Suk was a Czech composer and violinist, trained in music from a young age. Suk鈥檚 early style was influenced by his teacher and mentor, Dvo艡谩k, but he developed as a composer at the impact of other composers such as Debussy, Mahler and Strauss.

Suk鈥檚 expressive Fantastick茅 Scherzo is certainly tuneful, with both a sprightly woodwind theme and a memorable, lilting Czech tune on middle strings and cellos. Its dazzling and joyous finale is also not to be missed!

This performance by 蜜芽传媒 NOW took place in 2002 under the baton of much-loved conductor Richard Hickox, at St David鈥檚 Hall, Cardiff.
