Chad's army announces death of President Idriss Déby
Chad's President Idriss Déby died from injuries sustained while visiting front-line troops battling against rebel forces, the army said.
A spokesperson for Chad's national army said President Idriss Déby died from injuries he sustained while visiting front-line troops in Kanem province where they have been fighting rebel forces. The late president's son, Major General Mahamat Kaka, has been declared the interim leader and a dusk-to-dawn curfew has been imposed.
