2021 Elections: Tees Valley mayoral race at the heart of the battle for the red wall
Elections will be held across Great Britain on Thursday 6 May - up for grabs are new parliaments in Scotland and Wales plus council chambers and a series of metro mayors across England.
Covid forced the postponement of many of these contests last year, making this round the first major electoral test for our leaders since the general election of December 2019.
In the first of a series of reports in the run up to polling day, political editor Nick Watt takes a look at the Tees Valley mayoral contest at the heart of the battle for the Red Wall.
