'Come back and tell our audience when you’ve got a social care plan'

Labour’s Shadow Social Care Minister Liz Kendall said she wants the government to treat social care reform as an “economic priority” as important as fixing the roads and the railways.

The party wants a 10-year investment plan to make the UK the best country to grow old in.

But where would the money come from? ѿý Radio 5 Live presenter Rachel Burden said to Ms Kendall: “I do genuinely find this exasperating. I thought, in coming on today, that you would have an answer – how do we fund social care?”

Ms Kendall replied: "The government is in power now and it’s for them to bring forward those reforms."
