Our reporter and DJ Milly Chowles became a mum at 40 last year, and is in recovery from addiction. She was given lots of chances before she had a child - but do we as a society really believe that people can change?
As the final part of her series exploring the stigma and silence around child removal, we hear from a mum, Angela Frazer-Wicks, whose children were removed 17 years ago. There are references to suicide in her story.
