The breath-testing machine that can detect Covid in seconds
As travel restrictions are eased in some countries, international travel is picking up, but with many countries making it mandatory to have a negative Covid test, jumping on a plane for a quick weekend break is not as straightforward as it was.
However, one Polish company has come up with a standalone Covid testing station that gives results in seconds. It's currently being trialled in two airports. It works by identifying the wavelengths of the virus as you breathe into the device, and is not as invasive as a standard swab test.
Jan Strzalkowski, export sales director at M L Systems in Rzeszow, explains how his company came up with the testing method. He says that trials have shown an 86.6% success rate at spotting a positive Covid result.
