Old alarm had late mother’s voice recording

Comedy Producer Ed Morrish was rummaging around his garage for some knee pads when he stumbled on a 23-year-old alarm clock his mum had given him when he left home for university.

Speaking to 5 Live’s Naga Munchetty, Ed said he “instantly knew” the clock held a recording of his mum Christine’s voice shouting “wake up Edward!”

Christine passed away in 2006 and Ed didn’t have any recordings of her voice, meaning prior to discovering the alarm, his young children had never heard their grandmother’s voice.

Ed said having the recording makes his mum “a bit more real… more of an actual presence in the world.”
