Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie: 'Grief has made me quite thin-skinned'

What is the 'right' way to talk about grief? Celebrated author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie explores the subject with Emma Barnett on Woman's Hour.

Her new book, Notes on Grief, is a tribute to her late father, who died last summer while much of the world was in lockdown. She has since lost her mum too.

Despite being the author of award-winning novels such as Americanah and Half of a Yellow Sun, and a giver of landmark TED Talks such as We Should All Be Feminists, Chimamanda says grief has often rendered her lost for words, unable to express what she is going through.

She also talked about how her own grief has influenced the way she'll be sharing compassion with others in future: "The simpler the expression, the better."
