HK Apple Daily could shut 'within days'

An adviser to the jailed owner of Hong Kong's pro-democracy newspaper, Apple Daily, says it will likely be closed in two or three days after its assets were frozen under a wide-ranging national security law.

Journalists have carried on producing the paper - even after a raid on their offices at the end of last week - and have sold hundreds of thousands of copies, with some Hong Kong residents showing their support by buying multiple.

But for how much longer?

Mark Simon is an adviser of the paper's jailed billionaire owner Jimmy Lai.

"Basically the company is unable to operate its bank accounts and that's as bad as it gets."
