"If you can’t be bought you’re the richest person in the world."

Writer and comedian Ricky Gervais said that he won't perform at corporate events or for the super-rich at parties.

He said his first corporate gig put him off doing them in the future.

"I hated it... I thought I'm never going to do that again," he said.

He added that he got the offer to do the gig the week 'The Office' came out.

"I remember thinking, 'I've got to take this,' cos it was the same my dad used to earn a year, for 15 minutes," he told 5 Live's Nihal Arthanayake.

"I even feel guilty about turning it down 'cos I think well that's a day’s work and I can give this five million to charity," he added.
