Afforestation: Turning treeless areas into forests
Trees are an important way to reduce the levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere - but what trees, and where? Should we let forests grow naturally and leave them standing, or have plantations and use the timber for construction?
Afforestation is the process of planting trees in areas where they previously weren't - and many think it can help combat climate change.
Dr Charlotte Wheeler, a forest scientist at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, told Newshour's Razia Iqbal more about it.
