Is there such a thing as 'pandemic brain'?

After 18 months of social distancing and uncertainty, how much of an impact has the Covid-19 pandemic had on our brains? And have we been altered long-term by the experience?

Mike Yassa, the director of the University of California Irvine Centre for the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory, says their studies have found a general reduction in cognitive abilities and an increase in the type of 'brain fog' often linked to stress.

"Our bodies really like the natural rhythms we build into our lives, the habits, and when those are disrupted that actually causes stress on the body and the brain... Feelings of sluggishness, inability to attend and focus, short term and long term memory issues as well, all of these have been reported."
