Leak suggests spyware used to target activists

Human rights groups, journalists and lawyers have been targeted by governments using hacking software made by a private Israeli company, according to an investigation by a consortium of media organisations.

Pegasus tries to to infect your phone by sending you an imessage or email - which deceives you into clicking- which allows the phone to be taken over and have its content stolen.

It allows the hacker to turn on your microphone as well as seeing all your browsing history and contacts and videos.

The company NSO Group said in a statement "we firmly deny the false allegations made in their report."
