Utoya memorial: 'they carry this trauma every day'

Memorials are happening all over Norway today to mark ten years since a right wing extremist opened fire on teenagers at a summer camp on the island of Utoya.

Photographer Andrea Gjestvang has been taking pictures of some of the survivors. She told Newsday how they are coping, ten years on.

“Many struggle on a daily basis. One out of three suffer from PTSD. It is a big part of their every day. They struggle with anxiety. They are not adolescents any more, they are young adults. They have kids now, they work, they study, but there is no doubt that they carry this trauma on a daily basis.”
