Afghan startups: 'The roads aren't safe'
A group of young Afghan entrepreneurs have created a startup business using Instagram to sell traditional Afghan clothes, crafts and ceramics made in remote parts of the country - to customers around the world. But the rise of the Taliban is creating security problems, and putting business at risk.
Zahra Karimi works for Afghan ecommerce platform, Aseel, in Kabul. She told Newsday: “We travel to different parts of the country to explore artisans and then we post photos of their products online and sell them abroad. But the roads are not safe and secure and they cannot bring their products to the capital. If security gets worse we will face a problem in terms of fulfilling the orders.”
