New York Governor sexual harassment controversy

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has resigned after an inquiry found that he sexually harassed multiple women.

Julia Manchester is political reporter for The Hill in Washington.

She told Newsday: “It is ironic because the Governor has put out initiatives that protect women from sexual misconduct, but he has turned out to be allegedly one of the biggest perpetrators.”

She said Mr Cuomo had stayed so long in his job because of his role during the coronavirus pandemic.

“Roughly a year ago he was known as ‘America's governor’. Those daily briefings that he gave really boosted him and made him seem like a reliable figure.”
