'There are 18 million women in Afghanistan and not all are going to US or Europe'
The Taliban have sought to reassure the rest of the world that Afghanistan will not be used as a base for foreign fighters to spread terrorism. Addressing his first news conference in Kabul, the Taliban spokesman, Zabiullah Mujahid, also insisted women would be able to work, study and be actively involved in society, as long as they complied with Sharia law. Mahbouba Seraj is the founder of the Afghan Women’s Network. She told Newshour a lot of questions remained unanswered over the Taliban's policies on women's rights.
