Kabul attacks: 'people expected the Taliban to bring relative calm'
The US is continuing to evacuate people from Hamid Karzai international airport in Kabul despite yesterday’s bomb attack which killed more than 90 people.
A journalist in Kabul told Newsday about the reaction in the city:
“This time it has shocked people. I think they were expecting more from the Taliban who have been boldly saying that they were going to take control and ensure a safe transition and bring relative calm. And the way they deal with last night’s attack will be an indication to Afghans if they are actually capable.â€
“The Taliban said they are going to do everything to deal with Isis Khorasan. The airport is off limits now. A lot of people are stuck inside.â€
“The government is still in a transitional period. A lot of business and operations remain closed, but hospitals are still operating.â€
