Louisiana hurricane: 'you have pretty widespread destruction'
More than a million people are still without power in Louisiana and Mississippi after Hurricane Ida hit the Gulf Coast over the weekend.
Faimon Roberts is a reporter with the Times-Picaynne Newspaper in New Orleans. He told Newsday.
“It's been a fairly bleak scene throughout New Orleans and southeast Louisiana. You have pretty widespread destruction. Infrastructure has broken down. There is very little water service, electric power is out. The lack of fuel has become an acute problem.”
“People are just coping as they can. We have been encouraging people to check on their neighbours to ensure people don't fall through the cracks.”
