Kenyan drought declared 'national disaster'
Kenya's President, Uhuru Kenyatta has declared a national disaster in the country as drought ravages more than 20 provinces, affecting at least 2 million people. Northern parts of the country have received less than fifty percent of their average rainfall so far this year, and many people already going hungry and dying.
On social media pictures of carcasses and dying animals are being shared - with communities moving to try to find water to keep their livestock alive.
Dr Asha Mohammed, the President of the Red Cross Society in Kenya, welcomed the move - but says long term solutions are needed.
