‘I’m uncomfortable and angry’

Nicky Hutchinson, who is in remission from cancer, is hoping to be offered a booster jab.

The UK's vaccine advisory body is expected to give the go-ahead for a third vaccine dose to people over the age of 12 with severely weakened immune systems - which accounts for up to half a million people in the UK.

It comes after research showed 40% of people with weakened immune systems had a low antibody response, and potentially less protection, after two vaccine doses.

The advice means the most vulnerable - less than 1% of the population - will be offered a third dose.

Nicky Hutchinson, who is in remission from cancer treatment, is hoping to be offered a booster jab.

“I paid for an antibody test and my antibodies were incredibly low. We do need to get this third vaccination sorted,” she said.

“People who are vulnerable are just being written off and we’re just being told to stay home,” she said.

She also said that she felt the country was not learning from its mistakes.

“We open everything up, we lockdown and we do this constantly,” she said.
