Could 'cool pavements' stop cities from overheating?
Phoenix in the US state of Arizona has been trialling so-called 'cool pavements' designed to reduce the overall urban heat - which reached a decidedly uncool 114 degrees Fahrenheit this summer.
To hear more, the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s James Coomarasamy has been speaking to the mayor of Phoenix, Kate Gallego.
"It is a light coloured sealant that we are putting on our roads, it retains less heat... and we've found a significant change of 10-12 degrees Fahrenheit on our roads locally," she tells us.
