Ocean Photographer of the Year: How I captured my award-winning photo
This year's Ocean Photographer of the Year award - one of the world’s most prestigious accolades for ocean photography - has been won by Aimee Jan, a tour guide and photographer based in Western Australia. She's spent the last ten years exploring the Unesco World Heritage Site Ningaloo Marine Park, and has helped to research some of the world’s most endangered ocean species.
She said the shot involved luck - as the glass fish opened up in a circle around the turtle just as she got there - but also skill and training.
"The ledge that the turtle was under was quite far down, 8-10 metres down, and you're in a wetsuit and my camera housing is quite buoyant so I have to push it down under the water with me and steady at the bottom to hold the camera... And then obviously after a little bit you need to come up to the surface to breath."
