Hotel Rwanda: 'We know my father will be found guilty'

The daughter of Paul Rusesabagina, subject of the 2004 film Hotel Rwanda, calls on the international community to act.

The daughter of Paul Rusesabagina, the man whose story inspired the acclaimed 2004 film "Hotel Rwanda", says she expects him to be found guilty at his trial - and the international community must take action in response.

He's accused of terrorism-related offenses - along with 20 others - and is due to get the verdict today.

Mr Rusesabagina is the former hotelier whose efforts to save more than 1,200 people during the country’s genocide were depicted in the Hollywood blockbuster. He later became a critic of the government of President Paul Kagame.

He ended up being charged and jailed in Rwanda after being allegedly abducted from Dubai, something the Rwandan authorities deny.

Carine Kanimba, one of his daughters, says the international community must intervene.

"He was held in solitary confinement for over 250 days.... He has limited access to his lawyers. We knew there would never be a fair trial for my father, and now the world does too. If the US and Belgium and others believe in human rights they need to step in now to free my father."
