Australia's 5.9 quake captured live on radio show
A rare earthquake has struck the southern state of Victoria - the largest to have hit the country in recent years.
Pictures on social media show rubble strewn streets with local media reporting several high-rise buildings and hospitals were evacuated in the state capital of Melbourne.
Amber Irving-Guthrie is the radio co-host for ABC Gippsland's breakfast programme. She was on air when the earthquake struck at nine in the morning. ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Newsday spoke to her after first sharing the sound when the earthquake struck during Amber’s show.
“It was insane. It was such a fright. The building shook for about thirty seconds which felt like a lifetime.â€
One of Amber’s listeners described the effect of the tremor on his pet: “There was cat poo everywhere.â€
