Why are Nigerian states cutting telecom services?
Kaduna has just become the third of Nigeria's 36 states to shut down all telecom services in the hope it will stop communication between armed gangs and bandits. It follows similar moves by Zamfara and Sokoto states last week.
Gangs and so called bandits have killed hundreds of people and forced thousands to flee their homes over the last 12 months, and the authorities say this will stop them calling people for ransoms, and from getting information from informants.
But the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½â€™s Chris Ewokor says the move also leaves normal people with no way of contacting family and friends, and unable to run businesses.
"The people are now like living in the old stone age where people have to travel from one point to the other before they can transport their messages or convey their messages to others."
