‘I won’t be able to pay for my prescriptions’
A mum who relies on universal credit says she will struggle to survive when the £20 uplift ends.
Gemma Ball was left disabled after she caught Covid at her job as a support worker.
She is now faced with a huge financial blow, as the furlough scheme ends at the same time as the change to universal credit payments.
“I won’t be able to pay the rent or anything,” she said.
“With the end to furlough and universal credit, I’m going to lose £1,100 a month.
“I had severe long Covid so I’ve got heart disease, lung disease. It’s left me totally incontinent.
“It’s life changing.”
