Son begs Iran to let ailing father leave the country
Lawyers for an 84 year old man with dual US/Iranian citizenship have called on Tehran to allow him to leave the country for emergency surgery. The lawyers say that Baquer Namazi could die within days if a blockage to the supply of blood to his brain is not operated on. Baquer Namazi was released from prison on a medical furlough in 2018 but his family say he has been barred from travel - leave the country. Baquer Namazi and his son, Siamak, both US and Iranian citizens, were sentenced to 10 years in prison by a Revolutionary Court for "co-operating with a foreign enemy state". Both deny the charges. Newshour's Razia Iqbal spoke to Baquer Namazi's other son, Babak Namazi.
