Fleeing Beirut to escape the violence
"This used to be my experience when I was a child during the Lebanon civil war and now my children are going through it."
A Lebanese mother says she's decided to flee Beirut with her family after the violence there yesterday - saying it's brought back memories of growing up in the capital during the civil war.
Armed men linked to different factions shot at each other for hours - killing 6 people and injuring dozens more - causing civilians to flee in panic.
It happened after supporters of the Shia group Hezbollah gathered to protest against the investigation into last year's explosion in the city's port. They say gunmen on rooftops shot down on them.
For Jumanah Zabaneh the day was exactly like those she lived through in the seventies and eighties.
"This used to be our daily lives: we'd go to school, clashes happened, parents would panic to pick up their children... And what we saw yesterday was exactly the same situation. Panic all over the streets, the children screaming, not understanding what's happening... This used to be my experience when I was a child during the Lebanon civil war and now my children are going through it."
