Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins dies after Alec Baldwin shooting
Halyna Hutchins, the cinematographer who died when actor Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun on a film set, had been working as director of photography on the set of Rust. American Cinematographer magazine had named her one of its rising stars in 2019, and she previously worked on 2020 independent superhero film Archenemy.
Adam Egypt Mortimer is a filmmaker in Los Angeles who knew Halyna Hutchins and had worked with her on his film Archenemy. He describes the tragic nature of the accident.
"The tragedy of her dying suddenly is inconcievable on its own, but the fact of the way that she died, this kind of accident on a film set, is a catastrophe."
