Abducted child recovered in Australia
Australian police say a four-year-old girl who went missing during a family camping trip more than two weeks ago has been found alive and well.
If there's such a thing as a national sigh of relief, you'd have heard it over Australia not long ago. A four-year-old girl who went missing during a family holiday - more than two weeks ago - has been found alive by police in a locked house.
Cleo Smith vanished from her family's tent at a campsite which led to an extensive air, land and sea search by police. Officers said they raided a home in the town in the early hours of Wednesday morning and found the child inside.
A 36-year-old man is now in custody and being questioned by detectives. Kristin Shorten - police reporter for The West Australian newspaper - says the country has been following events closely:
"I just broke down in relief this morning, I've had many sleepless nights worrying about her and what had happened to her. This is about Cleo and her family. But I have to say my feelings reflect that of all Australians today - all mothers, all parents who have woken up to this news."
