Afghans facing 'hell on earth' as winter looms
The head of the World Food Programme has warned world leaders that they must act to avert a disaster in Afghanistan, where millions of people are under threat of starvation. The UN agency is ramping up its support in Afghanistan, distributing cash to poor families. The Taliban says it's ready to work with a number of UN agencies whose assistance is desperately needed. Obaidullah Baheer, a lecturer at the American University of Afghanistan, has started organising the distribution of food and aid.
