Myanmar: US journalist jailed for 11 years
A Myanmar military court has sentenced US journalist Danny Fenster to 11 years in jail. He was found guilty of breaching immigration law, unlawful association and encouraging dissent against the military.
Danny, who was the managing editor of online site Frontier Myanmar, now faces further charges of terrorism and sedition which could result in a life sentence.
Andrew Nachmeson is a colleague of Danny and digital editor of Frontier Myanmar.
"I don't think there was any expectation that this case would be resolved fairly in the courts and we're more likely looking at some negotiation to get him out rather than a legitimate, fair court trial... the charges aren't really based on reality."
