Single parent Laura says she is determined to make sure her son doesn鈥檛 worry about his mother鈥檚 financial struggles after experiencing increased gas prices this winter.

鈥淗e鈥檚 five, he doesn鈥檛 need to worry about grown up worries,鈥� Laura said.

She has a prepayment meter, and is only just managing to afford the bills.

鈥淎t the moment I鈥檓 spending between 拢35 and 拢50 a week on the gas,鈥� she said.

Speaking to Rachel Burden on 5 Live Breakfast, she said that when her son isn鈥檛 at home, she wears jumpers and dressing gowns to keep warm.

鈥淲e just suck it up and do the best we can,鈥� Laura said.
