IVF add-ons: 'Patients must be clear there's evidence that those treatments are effective'

On ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour, Emma Barnett spoke to Julia Chain, the new chair of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority, who is calling for law changes which would include her organisation getting the powers to fine IVF clinics that sell unproven treatments - known as add-ons. These can cost thousands without enough evidence to show they definitely have an impact.

With so many treatments on offer, Julia explained what evidence patients should ask for to check that the treatments are proven or not. Emma also asked Julia whether she thinks doctors should tell you when to stop with treatments. Watch the video to find out what she said.
