Japan's PM sleeping soundly in 'haunted' residence
Fumio Kishida will be the first PM to live in the official residence for nearly a decade.
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has this past weekend begun sleeping in the official residence in central Tokyo... something none of his predecessors has done for nearly a decade.
Why? Well, supposedly it's haunted but he says he's sleeping soundly and hasn't seen any ghosts.
Professor Tosh Minohara of Kobe University told us more about the tales... but says it's actually more practical considerations that's inspired the prime minister to move into the residence.
"It's first of all damp and dark, the building itself is not pleasant (but) it's located right behind the prime minister's office. Literally a two minute walk... The opposition party made a big deal with the previous prime minister because it had taken 21 minutes for him to get to the prime minister's office. And earlier, when Kishida became prime minister, there was an earthquake and it took him 36 minutes to get to his office."
