Covid-19 vaccination: Is it safe for pregnant women to get the booster?

The Covid-19 booster vaccine rollout is only taking off but what do we know about the safety of Covid-19 vaccines and pregnant women?

There is still an issue with pregnant women getting their first and second dose of vaccination, with figures from MBRRACE, a University of Oxford based team who collect and analyse the numbers and rates of baby deaths in the UK, showing more than 1,700 pregnant women were admitted to hospital with symptomatic Covid between 1 February 2021 and 30 September 2021 and 98.1% were unvaccinated.

Dr Vicki Male, a Reproductive Immunologist from Imperial College London, told Emma Barnett more about the research into Covid vaccinations in pregnancy and how safe the booster jab is for pregnant women.
