US tornadoes: Pianist finds peace despite destruction
Jordan Baize was filmed playing his grand piano under open skies after his house was destroyed. He says he wants the video to give people weathering any storm a "sense of peace".
In the US state of Kentucky, thousands of people are trying to rebuild their lives after last week's tornado which killed 100 people. Early estimates of damage and economic losses are in the billions.
One home that was destroyed was that of Jordan Baize, an accountant and business consultant. He and his family survived by hiding in their basement.
But when he ventured out, he found his grand piano was still intact. He says "the piano was sitting there in the corner and I thought: 'Just let me see what shape it's in".
A video of him playing it under open skies has now gone viral.
"I believe the video has brought a sense of peace, maybe some perspective, to folks who are weathering this storm or figurative storms in their lives all over the world, and for that I'm thankful. If we're able to bring a sense of calming, maybe the chance to recentre and refocus, check in on our priorities, then I'm happy about that."
