Sudan: 'We will bring this coup down'
Sudanese pro-democracy groups say they will agree a leadership group to better organise the campaign to defeat the military coup.
Sudanese security forces have used teargas on people marching in the latest mass protests against military rule in the country following last October's coup. Thousands in cities across the country took to the streets in the opening days of 2022 calling for the downfall of Sudan's ruling council.
Tear gas was used to disperse crowds in the capital Khartoum and in Port Sudan. It comes just days after the resignation of the civilian Prime Minister, Abdalla Hamdok.
Newsday heard from Mohaned El-Nour, a spokesperson for the Sudanese Professionals Association which backs a return to civilian rule - that the different protest groups will soon be led by one overall leadership.
"There is no option - we have to fight (this coup). They (the military) have killed our people and raped our women.
We are about to sign one declaration and this will bring us to a point where we'll have a leadership body to lead our revolution."
