'I’ve not had my heating on once over winter'
Lee lives in a flat in the CHIPS building in Manchester. Tenants here are either moving out or living without heating due to fear of sky-high energy bills.
“On paper, mine [bills] have doubled, despite my usage remaining the same.â€
Their previous supplier CNG Energy went bust in November and their new supplier, Pozitive Energy, was appointed by the regulator OfGem, without input from the tenants.
When the December bills arrived, just days before Christmas, they were triple, or even quadruple, previous amounts.
Lee spoke to 5 Live’s Nihal Arthanayake about the toll it’s taking on his mental health and day-to-day wellbeing.
“I’ve been sat in extra layers…it’s making me miserable, snappy, with my tenancy, there’s not really much I can do about it.â€
